L3 Commercial Training Solutions confirms launch of London Training Center and production facility in 2018

NYC-headquartered L3 Technologies has announced that its L3 Commercial Training Solutions (L3 CTS) unit will partner with Surrey County Council in the United Kingdom on the development and construction of a purpose-built airline training center and production facility for the manufacture of aircraft simulators.

The new training facility, to be named L3 London Training Center, is scheduled to become operational in the second quarter of 2018.

This capital investment reinforces L3’s commitment to the Commercial Airline Training market. The two new operations, with a combined volume of more than 150,000 square feet, will be co-located on a five-acre site in close proximity to London Gatwick Airport.

“We are very excited to announce this significant milestone for L3 Commercial Training Solutions,” said Michael T. Strianese, L3’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Our Center of Excellence will provide increased airline training capacity for our customers around the globe, as well as serve as an economic development catalyst for the London Gatwick area and drive continued sales growth. This investment clearly demonstrates our commitment to our L3 CTS business and helping airlines address the growing demand for trained pilots.”

The London Training Center will be equipped with eight RealitySeven full flight simulators; fixed-based simulators; briefing rooms and classrooms; meeting rooms; and a restaurant. The production facility will provide manufacturing capacity for 30 simulators per year to meet the growing backlog and demand for L3 CTS products and will include office space for more than 300 employees.
