SBD International opens new hangars
San Bernadino International Airport has announced the opening of 30 new hangars built to accommodate general aviation and corporate aircraft.

Located at the north-eastern end of the Airport, the completed development includes two new hangar banks, wash rack, taxilane, expansive aircraft ramps, and a new vehicle parking lot.

This first phase of new hangar construction includes 12 Executive (Box) Hangars offering a combined footprint of 42,293 square feet, and 18 "T"-Hangars with 22,139 combined square feet. Of the 30 hangars, 23 were immediately occupied when the doors opened near the end of May, with strong interest in the remaining seven hangars.

"We are excited to expand the general aviation community at SBD by adding GA hangars to the growing list of aviation services available at the Airport," says Mark Gibbs, director of aviation for SBD International Airport. "Waiting several years on a hangar waiting list is considered normal at most airports in Southern California. We are pleased to add hangar capacity that is badly needed in the region and to provide general aviation and corporate aircraft owners with more options."

In addition to hangars for aircraft based at SBD, the Airport is equipped with ample tie towns for transient aircraft. Short-term use of the tie-downs may be arranged though Luxivair SBD, the Airport's FBO, while longer-term rentals may be arranged through the Airport's property manager. The FBO offers private and business aircraft operators a full range of ground support services including aircraft towing and positioning, ground power units, full-service and self-service fueling options, concierge, and many other customary support services.

The Airport is also home to five FAA approved maintenance repair stations that support corporate, narrow-body, and wide-body aircraft. In addition to sophisticated hangar facilities, pilots enjoy access to a range of state-of-the-art features at SBD, including:

  • Newly reconstructed runway spanning 10,000' x 200' (3,408 x 61 meters)
  • Over 100 acres of concrete ramp areas
  • New Category-I Instrument Landing System (ILS)
  • Automated Weather Observation System III-P
  • 24/7 roving security service
  • Aircraft control tower, open daily from 7:00am - 9:00pm local time
