Future of flying on agenda at IBGAA’s debut conference

The 100-plus delegates arriving in Limerick next week (17 November) for the Irish Business and General Aviation’s (IBGAA) debut conference will get a glimpse of the future in both land and air transport.

Russell Vickers, CEO, Future Mobility Campus Ireland will share progress and ambitions for Ireland’s first passenger and cargo vertiport at Shannon Airport - a partnership announced in 2021 between Shannon Group, FMCI, Skyport and Avtrain. Created to encourage R&D activities and investment in Ireland’s first drone air taxi service, FCMI has also been established to build and manage testbed facilities for Autonomous Electric Shared Vehicles and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

Joining him on the Technology panel, Chris Bigwood, Regional Connectivity Sales Manager for Business Aviation and UAM Satcom products in the UK & Europe for Honeywell and Anna Montanuy Sellart, Regional Director-Europe at Satcom Direct will discuss inflight connectivity as a priority expectation; the importance of cybersecurity and efficient data management toward aviation 2.0 in the stepped up drive to automation.

Andy Wall, Sales Director UK and Ireland from PAL-V International will highlight the technological advances his company is undertaking to make the flying car a reality. The PAL-V Liberty, which flies as a gyrocopter with rotors which unfold from its roof, has been designed to transition between road and air transport modes inside six minutes. The panel will discuss the regulatory environment; workforce impact and the serious investment needed to embrace next gen/ electric aviation.
