This week's one-minute news roundup . . .

Honda Aircraft is looking to certify its HA-420 HondaJet for operation in China. The light jet, which will be displayed at the Singapore Airshow, is expected to have Chinese approval in early 2019. Honda Aircraft has already appointed Honsan General Aviation from Guangzhou as a dealer and to offer MRO services for the model type.

Bombardier is on track for gaining type certification for the Global 7000 in the second half of 2018. The company has just released its fifth and final flight-test vehicle (FTV5) into the airworthiness programme. Otherwise known as ‘The Masterpiece’, the FTV5 is the first of the test fleet to have the full interior installed, including features such as an IFE system backed by super-fast Ka-band.

In a report released this week, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) is calling for London and Brussels to preserve the aviation status quo when Brexit finally happens in 2019. The association’s main suggestion is that the UK joins the European Economic Area, in the same way as Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. However, there is still a lot of doubt about how UK bases will maintain FAA certification, let alone EASA-certification.

Bell Helicopter has delivered the first two 505 Jet Ranger X light singles to a European customer. EASA certified the model type in November 2017, almost a year after initial type certification in Canada the year before. The 505 is proving extremely popular, with over 400 letters of intent to purchase the helicopter.

Following its 2017 transformation plan, Daher - manufacturer of the TBM family of aircraft - is now launching a five-year plan, due to last until 2022. ‘Succeed Together’ will focus on developing the company’s North American market, and increasing automation and digitalisation, such as using more big data analysis.

Lastly, TAG Farnborough Airport has seen a record increase in air traffic movements with its highest ever growth last month, with an increase of 17.9% over January 2018. Indeed last year was its busiest year since 2007.
