FlightSafety International now offers a new
series of Sikorsky S-70A courses at its West Palm Beach Learning Center,
designed to provide a path for FAA type certification and recurrent training in
the S-70A Black Hawk.
Additionally, a simulator for the Sikorsky
S-76B has entered service at the company's Learning Center in Lafayette,
Louisiana.

The new Sikorsky S-70A courses are provided by
FlightSafety’s highly qualified instructors and Training Center Evaluators. They
feature a Level-D qualified simulator and are designed specifically for
restricted category, public use, and government operators.
The available courses include a two-week VFR
initial and one-week prior experience course which leads to an S-70 type rating
with VFR limitation on an FAA certificate. An approved VFR Recurrent course with
FAA 14 CFR 61.58 proficiency check, as well as 14 CFR 61.57 day and night
takeoff and landing recent flight experience endorsements, are also offered.
The Sikorsky S-76B full flight simulator was
previously located at FlightSafety’s Dallas Learning Center. It underwent a
complete refurbishment and upgrade at FlightSafety’s Simulation design,
manufacture, and support facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. FlightSafety has served as
the factory authorized training provider for Sikorsky since 1983.
Night Vision Goggle training in Dallas, Denver,
Lafayette and Stavanger
FAA-approved Part 142 Night Vision Goggle
initial and recurrent training is now offered by FlightSafety at its Learning
Centers in Dallas, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Stavanger,
Norway.
The Airbus, Bell and Sikorsky simulators are
NVG qualified by the FAA’s National Simulator Program. The qualification was
received after thorough evaluation and demonstration of the simulator’s ability
to accurately represent Night Vision Goggle operations.

and Rescue; Airborne Surveillance; and Security, Fire and Rescue operations,

The initial training is designed to provide
in-depth instruction on the equipment and focus on the efficient and effective
use of the goggles through scenario based and mission specific exercises.
It
includes eight hours of ground school and eight hours of training in an advanced
Level D qualified simulator.
The recurrent course provides an extensive
review of NVG operational techniques during all phases of flight. Topics include
Limitations and Flight Operations; Aeromedical Factors; Normal, Abnormal, and
Emergency Operation; Performance and Scene Interpretation; Flight Planning; as
well as Night Interpretation and Factors Affecting Interpretation.
