The Asian business aviation charter
market is expanding rapidly, according to new figures from Avinode, a leading
technology and data partner for the business aviation industry.
Requests for arrivals into Asian
airports made through Avinode rose by 43% for the period April 2017 to March
2018 compared to the same period in 2016-17, from 78,269 to 111,964.
The most significant increases in
flight requests for arrivals into Asia were from Russia and the US, with
requests from the US surging 72.4%. For trips from Russia to Asia, flight
requests made through Avinode leapt 41.4%, from 24,580 in 2016-2017, to 34,765
in the same period 2017-2018.
Requests for departures from Asia
through Avinode saw a 53% hike for the period April 2017 to March 2018 compared
to the same period in 2016-17, from 37,522 to 57,438. International departures
from Asia to Russia and the US again saw the most dramatic boost, increasing by
84.5% and 80% respectively.
For domestic charter trips
requested through Avinode, China’s key position in the global economy saw it
experience the greatest growth. For arrivals, China overtook India to become the
second most popular destination in Asia, with requests up 70.6%. Thailand
retained its position as the most popular destination, with a 64.6% increase in
requests.
For domestic departures, Chinese
airports climbed from the fourth to the first most requested in Asia, with
requests more than doubling from 2,286 to 4,765.
